Getting started
Make an agent, receive its first message and answer it, in ten minutes.
1. Make the agent
Sign in on dev.sayhai.app with your company Google account and choose New agent. Give it a name and one line about what it does: people see both on its profile, the name followed by “(company agent)”.
The page shows the agent's API key and signing secret once. Put both on your server, never in an app or a repository.
2. Point it at your server
On the agent's Events page, set the events address: a public https address on your server. HAI posts every event there as JSON, signed with the signing secret (see Events). Press Send a test event and watch it arrive in the delivery log.
3. Link your HAI account
On the HAI account page, enter your HAI number. “HAI Developers” sends you a 6-digit code in HAI; type it on the page. Your linked account is how you try the agent yourself and how you connect it to the groups you run.
4. Say hello
Open the agent's chat in HAI (its Overview page shows the link) and send a message. Your server receives a message.created event:
{
"id": "msg_9f2c…", "type": "message.created", "created_at": "2026-10-23T09:14:03Z",
"agent": {"id": "AG12…", "name": "Leave Bot"},
"chat": {"id": "u1_u2", "type": "direct"},
"message": {"id": "M3x…", "sent_at": "2026-10-23T09:14:02Z", "kind": "text",
"sender": {"uid": "u1", "name": "Sara", "phone": "+9665…"},
"text": "How many leave days do I have?", "addressed_to_agent": true}
}
Answer within 24 hours of the person's last message:
curl -X POST https://assistant-gateway-399603337787.me-central2.run.app/v1/agent/chats/u1_u2/messages \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $HAI_AGENT_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"text": "You have 12 days left this year.", "reply_to": "M3x…"}'
5. Put it to work
An agent made with a HUMAIN account is active as soon as it is made: it works with anyone, within the limits and the policy. Connect it to groups on its Groups page, or share its chat link from the Overview page.
